In this video, we start looking at carbohydrate molecules. We look at what is meant by a monosaccharide. We then explore the structure of the monosaccharide glucose and explain why glucose is a hexose monosaccharide. We then explain why all monosaccharides are soluble in water and finally, we look at the structure of the monosaccharide ribose and discuss why ribose is a pentose monosaccharide.
