In this two-part video, we look at how to use the Benedict’s test and a colorimeter to quantify the concentration of glucose in a solution. First I take you through the science behind the Benedict’s test and discuss why the colour of Benedict’s reagent changes when it reacts with glucose. I then explain how a colorimeter works and how we can use it to determine the level of blueness of Benedict’s reagent. In the next video, I show you how to use this information to accurately determine the concentration of glucose.
