Mahishan was elected as one of the two high school student representatives to receive a leadership award at the White House in 2016. He was awarded by President Obama at the White House.

United States Senate Youth Program (www.ussyp.org) annually chooses and recognizes two leading candidates from the senior high school students who excelled in education, leadership, and community service in each year.
