OCRmill Goes Nationwide and Personal

Last month I announced my “bad idea” for 2019, which consists of me running a mile on a treadmill, getting off and doing four obstacles, then getting back on the treadmill repeatedly for 24 hours straight.  The event is my third fundraiser for the charity Folds of Honor, who provides scholarship money to children whose parents were killed or wounded in action.  The OCRmill 24 main event is partnered with the Conquer The Gauntlet Pro Team Takeover of Conquer Fitness in Tulsa, OK on February 23-24, 2019 (you can read more about it here).

In an effort to extend the reach, I have partnered with several of the best OCR gyms across the country who will be running a “shadow” of the main event.  Gyms in Atlanta, GA (NinjaKour); Frederick, MD (Otherworld OCR); and Madison, WI (Hybrid Athletic Club) will be running the event simultaneously although in a relay format.

They all have slightly different rules and standards so check their Facebook pages and event pages for details (links below).  Most are free to participate (if you are a gym member) and require a small fee for a day pass for non-members.  Anything else you donate is up to you.  Most of the gyms are doing a relay where you sign up for a block of time or a distance, run at your own capability and enjoy some quality treadmill/obstacle time this winter.

Facebook event pages are available here:

Hybrid Athletic Club: Madison, WI

If you own/manage or attend a local OCR gym that you think would be interested in participating.  Message me on Facebook for details or shoot me an email at evan@ctgproteam.com

For those that can’t make it to any location, there is still an online donation link.  Watch the Conquer The Gauntlet Pro Team page the weekend of Feb 23-24 for live coverage.   We will be doing contests, updates and an opportunity to control what obstacles I do in exchange for a donation to Folds of Honor.

On a more personal note, all my friends and soldiers in my units that have died in combat didn’t have children at the time of their death.  In between my Endure The Gauntlet fundraiser and now, that changed for me personally.  Folds of Honor has always been my go-to charity because I think a child who experiences a parent who sacrificed themselves is already dealing with a lifetime of rough times.  So while this is still about raising money for Folds of Honor and honoring our veterans, it’s also in remembrance of Shannon.
