Japanese-American WWII Veteran Shiro Takeshita | USC Shoah Foundation

Shiro Takeshita was born in Salinas, California in 1921. During World War II, Shiro served in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a segregated unit for Japanese Americans, while his family was held in an internment camp in Poston, Arizona.

In his 1996 interview with USC Shoah Foundation, Shiro shares his experience as a Japanese-American during and after the war.
