January 10, 2020 – Platinum Rig announces the 2020 PLATINUM RIG OBSTACLE RELAY RACE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS taking place on August 1-2, 2020 in the United States.

Platinum Rig Events is sparing no expense in order to offer the most innovative World Class Obstacle Race of 2020. This event was created to cater to the top-tier elites as well as all OCR enthusiasts wanting a new and thrilling challenge. You can sign up as a World Class athlete or just create a team with a group of your friends and push yourself further and harder than you ever imagined.

You Help Choose the Location

We will be asking the OCR community where they would like our event to take place in the United States. We feel this will maximize community involvement around this one-of-a-kind event. We have many locations on standby already but are looking for the input from athletes to see what potential areas they would like and where they are from. Voting is enabled via a poll on Platinum Rig Events’ Facebook Page.

Multiple Race Options

There will be 4 options to choose from:

• 24-HOUR TEAM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (main event)
• 24-HOUR SOLO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS (co-main event)
• 12-HOUR TEAM OBSTACLE RACE (12-hour option)
• 4-HOUR OBSTACLE SHORT COURSE (4-hour option)

24 Hours, 40 Obstacles

All 4 races will take place on a custom 800-meter hard-packed oval track with 40 modulating obstacles. The course is constantly changing throughout the 24-hour period. Obstacles constantly rotate and change with 15-25 open at a time, sometimes none at all… and sometimes all the obstacles are open! Changes can happen every 10 minutes sharp and no one except for the race directors and crew knows what will be changing and at what time.

Obstacles include:

Rigs, Monkey Bars, Rope Climbs, Slip Wall Ramps, Suspended Tunnels, Nets, Slacklines, Mini Rigs, Floating Walls, Irish Table, Ninja Steps, Samurai, Balancing Beams, Spear Throw, Maze, Ladder Wall, Rings, Peg Boards, Sand Bag and Rubber Mat Carries, Infinity Bar, Rope Ladder Climb, Hercules Hoist, Tip of the Spear and many more! What makes this event so special is that it takes place on a clean track! No mud, no water and no hypothermia like many other endurance events. It’s all about the obstacles!

24H TEAM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Saturday, August 1st to Sunday, August 2nd 2020

This is the main attraction of the weekend. We offer both Competitive and Open classes. Competitive teams consist of 4 people with a minimum of 1 female racer. Each teammate needs to do a minimum of 20% of the team’s total laps. The winners are the teams that complete the most laps in the 24H period. The top 15 teams in this class will share the 24H World Championships Podium and the prizes! We will be offering a progressive purse for this class starting at 10,000$ including cash and prizes. The more teams we have, the bigger the cash prizes! The open class consists of 3-4 racers of any gender. The rules are the same except for the minimum amount of laps per teammate and this class is not eligible for prizes or podium. All participants in both classes receive a custom jersey, and buff. Those who finish the race receive a huge finisher medal.

*What makes the 24H so thrilling are the strategies each team utilizes in order to maximize the number of laps. When to change racers, when to rest, which teammate to use depending on open obstacles, strengths, and weaknesses. This is more than just your typical obstacle race. Teams can have Pit Crews to help calculate lap strategies, observe the course, etc.

24H SOLO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

(Saturday, August 1st to Sunday, August 2nd 2020)

This is for the ultimate 24-hour athletes who wish to run the entire 24-hour period! The same rules apply but you are on your own! The top 15 racers in this class will share the 24H Solo World Championships Podium and the prizes! We will be offering a progressive purse for this class as well starting at 10,000$ including cash and prizes.

12H TEAM OBSTACLE RACE

(Saturday, August 1st 2020)

This is the second attraction of the weekend. Half the time but just as much action! We offer both Competitive and Open classes. Competitive teams consist of 4 people with a minimum of 1 female racer. Each teammate needs to do a minimum of 20% of the team’s total laps in the 12-hour period. The winners are the teams that complete the most laps. The top 15 teams in this class will share the 12H PLATINUM RIG RELAY RACE Podium! The open class consists of 3-4 racers of any gender. The rules are the same except for the minimum amount of laps per teammate and this class is not eligible for the podium. All participants in both classes receive a custom jersey, and buff. Those who finish the race receive a huge finisher medal.

4H SHORT COURSE OBSTACLE RACE

(Sunday, August 2nd 2020)

This is the final installment of the weekend. This is our option for those wanting to participate in an obstacle race with a typical duration. Teams of 3-4 racers compete for fun during a 4-hour period on the same world-class track as the Championships. All participants receive a t-shirt and buff. Those who finish the race receive an amazing finisher medal. This is a great way for beginners to enter the world of obstacle racing.
