80th Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising | Estelle Laughlin | USC Shoah Foundation

On April 19, 1943, Jews imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto resisted Nazi efforts to deport them to death camps. This uprising is considered to be the largest act of Jewish resistance during World War II.

In her testimony, Holocaust survivor, Estelle Laughlin, recalls the uprising. Estelle was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1929. She survived the Warsaw Ghetto, Majdanek concentration camp, Skarżysko-Kamienna concentration camp, and Tschenstochau concentration camp. She was liberated by Soviet armed forces at Tschenstochau.

Estelle was interviewed by USC Shoah Foundation in 1996.

April is Genocide Awareness Month.
