In this video, we explore the effects of osmosis on animal and plant cells in terms of differences in water potential. First we look at how osmosis affects animal cells such as red blood cells. We explore why placing an animal cell in pure water causes the cell to burst. We then look at the effect of osmosis on plant cells and explore why plant cells do not burst when placed in pure water.
