In this video, we look at the process of transcription. First, I recap the basic stages of protein synthesis and then I take you through the stages of transcription. I explain to you the role of the key enzymes involved (DNA helicase and RNA polymerase), what is meant by the sense and antisense DNA strands and how these relate to messenger RNA. Then I discuss the role of RNA splicing and how this leads to a functional messenger RNA molecule.
