In this video, we look at the role of the loop of Henle. First we explore the structure of the loop of Henle in terms of the descending limb and ascending limb. We then look at how the loop of Henle acts as a counter-current multiplier, producing a very low water potential in the medulla of the kidney. Finally, we explore how the kidneys of the kanagroo rat are adapted for efficient reabsorption of water.
