Ainara’s Bookshelf gives the inside scoop on some of the best middle-grade books that feature diverse characters from diverse creators, and provides exclusive interviews with several of their award-winning authors. Charismatic 13-year-old host Ainara Alleyne (of Instagram fame) reviews a favorite book from her modern book loft. Then, she takes viewers along as she crosses North America to fan out with some of her favorite writers, chatting with them about their work, creativity, and the importance of representation.

👧🏾 MEET AINARA ALLEYNE 👧🏽
Ainara Alleyne is a 13-year-old elementary student from Ontario, Canada. Ainara curates the Instagram page @ainarasbookshelf, where she highlights books for young people whose authors and main characters are Black, Indigenous, people of color, differently abled and other underrepresented minorities. Ainara posts reviews, recommendations, and author interviews to share diverse stories with a broader audience. She believes that by experiencing other cultures and perspectives through books, we can not only acknowledge our differences but be able to understand and embrace them.
