Presentation of the monograph

Education as a social practice is articulated around cultural schemes that allow for the exchange of meanings and emotions between the different actors of an educational community. Migration thus challenges the recognition of difference through an educational response suited to the migratory trajectories of families, young people, and children.
Therefore, it becomes necessary within this context to understand how the curriculum is articulated to address the actual diversity in the classroom, and how the concepts of person and society should be understood in schools. Based on the above, a need exists to know how pedagogical and didactic strategies are successfully implemented in multicultural schools, how cultural aspects influence the new educational spaces, and how values and citizenship have come to play a key role in formal education.
This special issue expects research and experiences from different voices and contexts that take into account not only the prevailing monocultural perspective but also diverse worldviews than can support cultural understanding about the symbolic systems articulated both in schools and societies. Therefore, this issue has as its purpose to generate new knowledge and to inform about recent advances that can guide educational processes in cultural diversity contexts. To do this, we call for diverse approaches and methodologies to present studies, experiences, and good practices in intercultural education that rely on robust empirical evidence and offer a more comprehensive view of education from early childhood to secondary education.
Our special call seeks papers based on empirical research where studies must be described in sufficient detail to be potentially replicable using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods.
Keywords: intercultural education, migration, curriculum, cultural diversity

Review Process for the Selection and Rejection of Papers

The review process will be coordinated by the guest editors. Each paper will be examined first by the editors before being sent to two academics/researchers for blind review. The reviewers will be given four weeks to submit their recommendations. The recommendations will then be collated and a decision will then be made by the editors to accept, accept with minor revisions, accept with major revisions, invite for a new review after major revisions or reject. The decision and the collated comments will then be sent to the author for action. In the ideal situation, the revised paper will be sent back to the original reviewers. After acceptance, the editors will review the papers again and there will be a team of research assistants to proofread and check the references. After being proofread, the accepted paper will then be sent to the editor of NAER.
