Happy Friday from Mud Run Guide! We hope you are gearing up for a great weekend of racing!
Our first community member of the week is Per , who finished his first Spartan Race last weekend during the Whistler Sprint. Congratulations on a great race! We can’t wait to see what you do next!
Next, we have Leigha who came in 5th place in the Elite heat of the Sprint in Killington last weekend in a close race. Way to keep pushing and finish strong!

RACE RECAP! Killington @spartanrace was by far my most exciting race to date. No I didn’t win, but I did come in 5th by only a few seconds! Here’s why I loved it: I started off at an “easy” pace up the first climb- something i never do bc my ego gets in the way and I go way too fast out the gate. But for the first time in my life I had some patience I felt great on the downhills and was able to recover in the woods, staying just behind a few awesome athletes had a serious scare at the Z wall when I almost fell like 3 times and took an extra minute to complete what’s usually a very easy obstacle. I had to make up lost time on a long, strenuous uphill. This was by far the hardest part of the race. I was just trying to keep up with @storm_the_spartan and @iriland who were pushing the pace hard. Luckily I had the help of a couple friends who were running along the course with me making sure I didn’t quit (you know who you are, & thank you ) about .25 miles from the finish was the sandbag carry. I knew this was where I had to push it so I did. I made my passes and got to the spear in 6th place. Nailed my spear and passed an athlete doing burpees. all three of us were on the final rig at the same time. I lost control but was somehow able to recover, hit the bell, and sprint to the finish, beating out my opponents by only 4 seconds! The highlights: getting this at the finish line from my friend and ocr pro @fayestenning_ocr , pushing myself beyond my limits, getting to run such a beautiful course with so many friends, and all the hugs from opponents at the finish line. The camaraderie in this sport never ceases to amaze me Finally, thanks to more consistent training and the help of @grit_coaching , my running seems to be improving. I’m so excited for the rest of the season!
