Two cardiac surgeons, Hendrik Treede and Michael Reardon, and an echo specialist, Joao Cavalcante, have been invited to share their views on aortic regurgitation management.
So far, surgery remains the gold standard, and they explain why, by also comparing repair and replacement, before discussing the challenge that aortic regurgitation represents for echo imaging, but also for diagnosis and treatment, in the absence of dedicated devices for a long time.
Then, they look at more recent devices that are improving the management of aortic regurgitation, in particular by offering transcatheter treatment, and examine how to select eligible patients.
