“I felt that I was not a survivor” | Child Holocaust Survivor Edith Maniker | USC Shoah Foundation

Jewish survivor, Edith Maniker, survived the Holocaust at 8 years old by escaping Germany on the Kinder transport. In her USC Shoah Foundation testimony, Edith discusses her “mixed emotions” about identifying as a Holocaust survivor and recalls the process of acknowledging the validity of her experience.

A notable quote by Edith Maniker, “One of the survivors, here in Michigan, would always start out his speech by saying ‘Please don’t let anybody teach you how to hate. And don’t you teach anybody how to hate.’ And I think that’s a pretty good creed to live by.
