“She didn’t even say goodbye. She just disappeared.”

April 7 is the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda. The Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda began on April 7, 1994.

Tutsi survivor, Freddy Mutanguha, was born in Bujumbura, Burundi in 1976. After surviving the genocide, he was liberated by the Rwandan Patriotic Army. Freddy was interviewed by USC Shoah Foundation in 2010. In his testimony, Freddy describes the last time he saw his mother.

April is Genocide Awareness Month.
