What are some ways to use G Suite to build online training options for educators? How might educators modernize K–12 infrastructure for more efficient and secure computing, storage and networking management?

Those are just two of many topics EdTech: Focus on K–12 team will delve into at the ISTE 2019 conference, which kicks off June 23 in Philadelphia.

The International Society for Technology in Education’s 40th annual conference is expected to draw at least 15,000 attendees and another 10,000 presenters speaking on topics related to innovations in K–12 education technology. As suggested by the event’s theme, Bold Educators Activate Change, this event is about actively introducing educational technology in the classroom.

The event program is packed with options, ranging from a field trip to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to an esports outing at a local arena to dozens of “playgrounds” focused on topics such as robotics and mobile learning.

Speakers include a mix of educators, industry pros and other influencers, including Danielle Feinberg, Pixar’s director of photography for lighting, who has worked on Oscar-winning films including the 2017 hit Coco. Feinberg is among a group of Sunday presenters that also includes Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera, named a White House Champion of Change in 2014.

On Tuesday, ISTE CEO Richard Culatta will join a slate of educators for a main stage session

Wednesday’s lineup includes a keynote from Ron Clark Academy teacher Michael Bonner, who has appeared on national television programs including The Ellen DeGeneres Show and NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, on his success in educating and motivating students despite challenges they may face outside of school.
