It’s a big week for partnership in OCR! Epic Series is partnering with Epic Interval Training to bring you a new kind of OCR Championship. Instead of a full-blown obstacle course, participants will compelete 8 exercises for repetition and time. Epic also plans on developing a ranking system for athletes that will qualify them for championship events. According to Epic Series COO Casey Bateman:
“What makes this race unique is there is a bit of strategy involved in terms of where you may be stronger or weaker on the course, trying to put an advantage on the obstacles you exceed at over the ones you may struggle with. some athletes may be able to do box jumps all day and some athletes may struggle to do sandbag cleans. All athletes will be able to participate a the event with the weights geared towards everyone.”
The top 20 finishers at each event will compete in a final round to determine podium placement. Winners will receive sponsor swag, medals, and potentially cash prizes. The schedule is still being finalized, so keep your eye out for dates near you.
Epic Series Obstacle challenge and Epic Interval Training are partnering to bring a new, never before seen race to athletes throughout the United States
San Diego, CA: Epic Series, a west coast obstacle challenge, known for its desire to bridge the gap between obstacle course racing and CrossFit, looks towards a championship of “Epic” proportions. The challenge has been known for its short, intense course, but to this date it has yet to produce a championship for its dedicated athletes.
Starting in June of 2019, Epic Interval Training will join Epic Series to create a championship consisting of 8 exercises for repetition and time. Each athlete will get :40 seconds at each of the 8 stations to complete as many repetitions as possible under the watchful eye of paid officials and camera. The athlete will then be scored based on total number of repetitions they complete for all 8 obstacles.
Epic Series COO, Casey Bateman, said:

The two organizations are in the middle of building out a full schedule for 2019, but they plan to have this race developed into a national ranking system set for the 2019 season. Athletes will be ranked on a daily and yearly system, that will go on to qualify them for championship events.
“For many years I have been trying to find a better way to push, test, and score functional athletes from all different disciplines…CrossFit, OCR, MMA, Triathletes,” says Alexander Nicholas, Creator of EPIC INTERVAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Alex goes on to say, “This high octane competition is the true test to see who is the most functionally fit on the planet!”

About EPIC SERIES www.epicseriesocr.com Founded in 2014, EPIC Series was created to be a fun and unique addition to the obstacle course racing (“OCR”) community. It combines elements of cross training, Strongman, and traditional obstacle course racing, but without the mud or long-distance running typically found in most other OCRs. By creating obstacles that have Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced options, EPIC Series opens up obstacle course racing to a wider audience of fitness enthusiasts who may have been too intimidated to try it in the past. EPIC Series also adds in a special ELITE Course for the more competitive athletes to try their hand at strength challenges with heavier weights, throwing in exercises often seen in powerlifting and Strongman competitions. EPIC Series is a family-friendly event, incorporating a KIDS Course that mimics a kid-sized version of the obstacles and strength challenges seen in the adult courses.
