The Odd Squad series addresses mathematics curriculum expectations mostly from Kindergarten to Grade 3 in Number Sense and Numeration, Measurement and Date Management. In a few episodes, curriculum expectations from Patterning and Algebra, Geometry and Spatial Sense and Probability will be included. As well, mathematics used in the series are suitable for young children in situations where they may have a need for alternative lessons/activities. In addition to the specific curriculum expectations, mathematical processes are also addressed in the series. These would mostly include problem solving, reasoning and proving, selecting computational tools and strategies, communicating, representing and connecting. The show aims at problem solving and thinking and includes building procedural fluency as well as building conceptual understanding. The show uses creativity and imagination to foster inquiry and math-talk.
