In 1943, Austrian Lore Perl was arrested for aiding Jewish children. She was imprisoned in Ravensbrück, a concentration camp for women.

March is Women’s History Month in the United States.

“I have it in my arrest report that I hid Jews, that I helped Jews, that I had contact with Jews who were out of the country and, through my terrible behaviour, I am working against the Reich”

In her testimony, Lore recalls the categorization of prisoners (e.g. “intellectual” women received better treatment than “asocial” women), degrading treatment from SS men, and meaningful relationships formed between women.
