Formative assessment is an approach jointly used by learners, teachers, and peers. It helps students to understand what they are learning, how they are learning, and how they will continue to reach a learning target.
In order to prepare students for the modern world, we need to move away from narrow approaches of summative assessment, which only measure students’ ability to memorize and regurgitate facts at a certain point in time. Effective formative assessment shares learning expectations and learning targets, while also creating a continuous feedback loop to help track students’ understanding and development.
In this session, HundrED Head of Research Crystal Green sits down with Heidi Andrade Ed.D, Professor of Educational Psychology and Methodology, Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, Professor of Science Education University of Cape Coast, Margaret Heritage Education Consultant, and Julia Wyss
Program Manager t the Jacobs Foundation.
