In this video, we look at the volatility and solubility of alcohols. First we look at the boiling points of alcohols and how these compare with equivalent alkanes, linking this to volatility. We explain this by looking at the intermolecular forces involved. We then look at the water-solubility of alcohols compared to alkanes, again in terms of intermolecular forces.
