ACRL University Libraries Section PDC: Supporting the Whole Person with Student Basic Needs Services

Recording of the February 23, 2021, ACRL University Libraries Section Professional Development Committee: Supporting the Whole Person with Student Basic Needs Services with speakers Darice Ingram and Lana Mariko Wood.

College students across the country are struggling to meet their
basic needs while attending school, including facing housing, food,
and fiscal insecurities. These insecurities are incurred disproportionately
by traditionally underrepresented groups, such as first-generation college
students, Black and Indigenous people, single parents, people with disabilities, nonbinary and trans identifying individuals, and former foster youth. As information experts, library workers can play a critical role in connecting students to basic needs services on campus and in the community.

Come join a librarian and a student program coordinator to discuss student basic needs services offered at a public university and how the library and library workers can partner in these crucial efforts.
