In Part 2 of this presentation, our guest speaker, Darryl Clare (Lecturer in Paramedic Science) from CQ University provides an overview of the range of hardware and software he uses to create 360 video and mixed reality learning experiences. Darryl and colleague Dr Michael Cowling answer participants questions and provide advice regarding the best technologies to generate content for different mixed reality learning experiences.
Darryl is a passionate educator with 25 years’ experience in clinical education. He has a passion for education, research and implementing best practice in pre-hospital care and is a Lecturer in Paramedic Science with the School of Health, Medical and Applied Science at CQ University. Since January 2019, Darryl has been working in a seconded role at the university as a Senior Project Officer – Digital Learning. Darryl started working in augmented and virtual reality 4 years ago to enhance the learning experience in paramedic education, delivered at CQ University. He wanted to find a way to bring “rare” events, to paramedic students in a meaningful and engaging way. This led to creating virtual reality scenarios that immersed paramedic students in rare events such as triage.
In the past 4 years Darryl has worked on a variety of projects in the AR/VR fields for other disciplines across the University, these include immersive virtual reality sonography scenarios, crime scene scenarios for forensic science students, nursing and chiropractic virtual reality tutorials and safety and awareness inductions across multiple disciplines delivered in virtual reality.
