Career and Technical Education (CTE) faculty enter the classroom with rich professional experience and subject expertise. Professional development is crucial to augment this expertise with a practical understanding of pedagogy and how to shape the learning environment to foster student engagement and success.
This webinar features an outstanding panel of CTE faculty discussing their experiences in virtual communities of practice focused on effective teaching, through the Lumen Circles Fellowship Program. Panelists include: Mandy Newcomb (Culinary Arts – College of New Caledonia), Tom Hoerl (CIT – Harford Community College), and Tracie Clifford (Engineering Technology – Chattanooga State Community College).
Panelists discuss how the virtual community of practice model works for CTE faculty to create supportive space for trying out evidence-based teaching practices, reflecting and building on their strengths as teachers, sharing ideas and feedback with peers – with a common goal of improving teaching excellence.
