The virtual training producer by /u/Tough-Seesaw-7422 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)
Hey Everyone! So I read this article and another new role that’s emerged from the pandemic… the Virtual Training Producer. This just highlights how different live training online is compared to in-person, with its own set of complexities. Is live, virtual training and important part of the new norm for you? Btw I’m not associated with the blog or anything but just curious about how the hybrid setup of the workforce does create a new responsibility for instructors or if you’ll hire a virtual training producer submitted by /u/Tough-Seesaw-7422 [link]

Keys to a Professional Learning Community: My Own List by Stephen Downes (Half an Hour)
I said on a recent post that “Alexandra Minhai says successful professional learning communities depend on four factors: being a safe space, validation by peers, crowdsourcing ideas, and accountability. If I had to create my own list it would be: tools that work, practical value, timely response, and whole-of-enterprise (and beyond!) scope.”In all fairness, I should probably expand on why I think these are necessary (and possibly even sufficient) for the fostering of a professional learning community.Technology that WorksNothing works without working technology. Design for a better e-learning approach by /u/ignorantwanderer (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)
I used to be a high school teacher, but haven’t been in the classroom for about 10 years. My kids are now in high school. They have done some on-line school over the past two years (basically normal class on zoom). They also took an online math class. Their online math class basically looked like a webpage with imbedded videos and multiple choice questions to answer. It was fine, but I think online learning could be done so much better. Ever since I started teaching I’ve been imagining ways to do online learning. I imagine instead of looking like a webpage that you scrol […]

A way to share powerpoints without using a host? by /u/EDKit88 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)
We have an on going issue with power points, our students are in a different org than us in one drive, and IT refuses to allow the “share all” option. I get it, I really do, but within our LMS the only other way to share our powerpoints are through PDF and it just looks bad, and we can’t even utilize all the tools ppt allows. I’m the curriculum manager at our college and I just would like some sort of solution to improve student experience. Any thoughts? Is there a way to share power points without them being a pdf. I also share them in Rise as lessons/prep that pushes a […]

3rd party learning plans loaded into LMS by /u/mynock1026 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)
I am working on a project and I am wondering if anyone has ever run into this. I want to be able to take a third-party learning plan and load it into an LMS and have the courses automatically assigned. We have proprietary skills assessments that can create a learning plan based on the results. I want to take this information and automatically pass it back to the LMS so the personalized learning plan and courses are automatically assigned.
