Blackboard Learn by /u/Fachow (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

Hello everyone. Does anyone have experience with Blackboard Learn? These past few years, I was more accustomed to Moodle. Shifting to Blackboard now, it seems that it isn’t as flexible and doesn’t have nearly as many functions. Anybody have experience who want to share some tips or experiences with Blackboard? Currently struggling with having dynamic reporting. Thanks all. submitted by /u/Fachow [link]

Organize to innovate: Learning’s role in creating an innovation environment by Ashley St. John (Chief Learning Officer – CLO Media)

During a crisis or financial downturn, businesses that continue to pursue innovation perform better through the hard times and emerge from the situation stronger than those that shut it down. Yet most CEOs don’t rate their “innovation quotient” very high. It’s not a lack of good ideas. It’s a lack of innovation organization. How do you teach something you know nothing about? by /u/SlowMtn (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

Questions for all you L&D/CE/LXD/ID/LMNOP people: — Any advice, tips, tricks, tools, articles or youtubes about – what to do when you get a TON of learning material from your SME(s), and you need to curate, edit, organize, synthesize, analyze, and ultimately understand topic(s) you might not even be the slightest bit familiar with – in record time? How do you do that, and how do you do that fast? — If question one above is a mircro-example of this phenomenon, what about the macro? How do you not only understand, but then create something that t […]

Is Kajabi the best option for creating online course? by /u/Ski_Ski_MF (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

Hello! I’d like to have an online course on a platform, and my issue is that every option seems a bit excessive (price/functionality) for someone that is just beginning. Would gumroad be a smarter option to start with? My original plan was to create the signup through substack, and each subscriber would get a zoom link because this seems a bit simpler, but I am not sure if anyone has something that might help me with this. The course would be live, and I think it would be nice to have a platform where I could also have a landing page, but $119 […]

The virtual training producer by /u/Tough-Seesaw-7422 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

Hey Everyone! So I read this article and another new role that’s emerged from the pandemic… the Virtual Training Producer. This just highlights how different live training online is compared to in-person, with its own set of complexities. Is live, virtual training and important part of the new norm for you? Btw I’m not associated with the blog or anything but just curious about how the hybrid setup of the workforce does create a new responsibility for instructors or if you’ll hire a virtual training producer submitted by /u/Tough-Seesaw […]

Getting it wrong – Weeknote #160 – 25th March 2022 by James Clay (eLearning Stuff)

Authority Accelerator by Sunny Lenarduzzi by /u/Ok-Ad-9512 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

Has anyone here had a personal experience with Authority Accelerator course by Sunny Lenarduzzi? I’m certainly interested, but 6K seems like a bit too much. I wonder whether their prerecorded lectures are all I need. Or if the Facebook group and everything else that is included was worthwhile as well? I know a lot of people believe it’s a scam, but I’ve seen some people with results. However, if you know about some negative experiences as well, please share them here. Keys to a Professional Learning Community: My Own List by Stephen Downes (Half an Hour)

I said on a recent post that “Alexandra Minhai says successful professional learning communities depend on four factors: being a safe space, validation by peers, crowdsourcing ideas, and accountability. If I had to create my own list it would be: tools that work, practical value, timely response, and whole-of-enterprise (and beyond!) scope.”In all fairness, I should probably expand on why I think these are necessary (and possibly even sufficient) for the fostering of a professional learning community.Technology that WorksNothing works without […]

Universities interpret change as harm… but that’s probably ok by mweller (The Ed Techie)

We were discussing the new Open University strategy recently, one strand of which calls for innovation in teaching. This has been a constant thread in nearly all strategies that I can recall in my 27 odd years at the OU. And, to be fair, it is something the OU and colleagues have largely delivered on. …Continue reading

Design for a better e-learning approach by /u/ignorantwanderer (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

I used to be a high school teacher, but haven’t been in the classroom for about 10 years. My kids are now in high school. They have done some on-line school over the past two years (basically normal class on zoom). They also took an online math class. Their online math class basically looked like a webpage with imbedded videos and multiple choice questions to answer. It was fine, but I think online learning could be done so much better. Ever since I started teaching I’ve been imagining ways to do online learning. I imagine instead of looking li […]

A way to share powerpoints without using a host? by /u/EDKit88 (elearning: courseware, platforms, tips, and discussion)

We have an on going issue with power points, our students are in a different org than us in one drive, and IT refuses to allow the “share all” option. I get it, I really do, but within our LMS the only other way to share our powerpoints are through PDF and it just looks bad, and we can’t even utilize all the tools ppt allows. I’m the curriculum manager at our college and I just would like some sort of solution to improve student experience. Any thoughts? Is there a way to share power points without them being a pdf. I also share them in Rise as […]
