Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip first met in 1934 at a royal family wedding.
Elizabeth and Philip’s fateful re-meeting occurred at the Royal Naval College in 1939, where the latter was a cadet. Visiting with her parents and sister, Princess Margaret, 13-year-old Elizabeth was reportedly smitten with 18-year-old Philip.
They married on November 20, 1947.
Together, they had four children and have since welcome grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After 73 years of marriage, Prince Philip passed away on April 9, 2021, at 99 years old.
Queen Elizabeth passed away on September 8, 2022, at 96 years old.
