Judith Leiber was born in 1921 in Budapest, Hungary; she avoided Nazi prosecution during WWII and fled to a safe house made for Swiss citizens. After the war, Judith worked as a handbag designer for multiple companies before starting her own in 1963. Judith Leiber Couture is known for its Swarovski crystal-embellished handbags that have graced the likes of Presidental first ladies, A-list stars, and other influential personalities. Judith’s bags are considered an icon in the fashion world and almost always make an appearance at one of fashion’s biggest events, New York Fashion Week. Judith Leiber passed away on April 28th, 2018, but her legacy both as a survivor and a fashion icon live on.
