The life cycle of the butterfly is one of the most beautiful transformations that occurs in nature. It’s amazing to watch, which makes it a great educational opportunity for kids and adults alike.
Butterflies go through four major stages of metamorphosis: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis/pupa and adult.
Stage 1: EGG
Stage 2: CATERPILLAR
Stage 3: PUPA
Stage 4: ADULT BUTTERFLY

Terms to Remember:
Chrysalis- the hardened outer protective layer of a pupa
Pupa- stage development of an insect between a larva and a fully grown adult
Metamorphosis- the process of transformation from immature form to an adult form
Life Cycle- the series of changes that a living thing goes through the beginning of its life until death
