Learning about artificial intelligence (AI) is often limited to STEM disciplines, excluding many from contributing to its application or use. However, non-technical experts are often best-placed to consider aspects such as ethics and policy. University of Toronto Libraries’ year-long initiative “The 99 AI Challenge” engaged 99 students, staff, faculty, and community members in online and in-person opportunities to learn about AI. This session outlines their experience, perceptions and recommendations based on this pilot project.
