Hello Community Members,
Welcome to this edition of ‘Showcase Shorts’.
You might be wondering where we’ve been as it’s been a long time since the publication of our last edition. Well, we’ve been launching Moodle LMS 4.2 and Moodle Workplace 4.2, for which you hopefully have seen the announcements and all the great new features available.
We’ve also been taking some time to plan for our next increments of work, the outcome of which can be seen on our Public Roadmap. Our planning processes are key to ensuring we focus on what matters most to our community and our partners, whilst helping our community contributors by providing visibility on what we are all working towards together.
As a result, this sprint was our first ‘normal’ sprint in quite a few weeks and we are all very happy to be back to it; discovering and delivering the features and improvements which will come to fruition in our 4.3 and 4.4 releases (and squashing some bugs along the way!).
First up in this edition is an update from our Moodle Platform team who have been working on improvements that are driving us towards our goal of reducing the effort required to maintain Moodle and modernise our solution, supporting the needs of Moodle Administrators and Developers.
Moving to our Educational Solutions teams, who share work they have been doing to help us achieve our goal of optimising the course and activity experience in Moodle, supporting the needs of Moodle Educators and their students. This update also includes a sneak peek into our newest MUA-supported project: “Default Settings for Course Completion” so make sure to watch!
In other news from the teams:
- We launched some changes to onboarding for our newest Moodle users on MoodleCloud, providing them with better product tours and information to help them get the most out of their first experience with Moodle. If you want to see it for yourself, you are welcome to try it with one of our free trials.
- We also released the results of our research on Messaging in Higher Education as well as our research on the use of AI in Moodle this sprint. We want to thank everyone who took the time to participate and share their experiences, challenges and questions with us – we learned so much from you all!
And finally, an update from our Moodle Community team, who have been hard at work improving our moodle.org sites, ‘Download Moodle’ capability, plugin directory and much more.
Until next sprint!
