On-board technology is sweeping through the student
transportation industry, representing a change as massive as the ones brought
by GPS devices and cameras in prior years. Districts across the country have
been embracing the Tyler Drive on-board tablet and using it to improve safety,
communication, and efficiency, and the media has taken notice. We are proud to see
their success recognized, and want to share their stories with you.
Saratoga Springs City School District in Saratoga, New York was
one of the earliest users of Tyler Drive. They have also recently paired it
with the Versatrans My Stop app to improve communication with parents. Watch
a video from CBS6 Albany describing how they use technology to positively
impact their community.
Dubuque Community School District in Dubuque, Iowa is also receiving attention for implementing Tyler Drive tablets on a portion of their fleet this year. DCSD Transportation Manager Ernie Bolibaugh told KWWL7 News, “Say somebody isn’t on the bus that day or sick that morning, we can push a message from our office, the dispatchers can push that to the routes, and we can skip that route if we want.” Watch a video featuring their story here.
Finally, you may have heard that Tyler Technologies has formed a partnership with First Student, the country’s largest school bus contractor, to roll out a custom version of Tyler Drive to their 42,000 buses over the next few years. Read the story featuring drivers at one of their Cincinnati sites in School Transportation News Magazine.
