In this video, we look at fetal haemoglobin. First we look at how the oxygen affinity of fetal haemoglobin is different to maternal haemoglobin and why this is important for oxygen transfer across the placenta. We then explore the reason for this difference in terms of the structure of the haemoglobin molecule.
